Fancy Nancy Party

Elizabeth was invited to a Fancy Nancy birthday party the other day. We are well aware of who Fancy Nancy is. Elizabeth loves those stories. So I got her all pretty and fancy for the party. I took forever curling her hair, which the curls don't show in the picture, and they didn't hold for too long. Too bad that when she got to the party none of the other girls were as dressed up as her, but she had a blast anyway. Everyone thought she was so cute.

~Who is Fancy Nancy and why are books about her so popular? Fancy Nancy is the creation of author Jane O'Connor and illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser. Fancy Nancy is a little girl who loves everything fancy: clothing, accessories, furnishings, activities, and words. She is enormously appealing to the little girls (and their moms) who also love dressing up and enjoying the fancy life. Fancy Nancy is also very popular with teachers because of all of the "fancy words" she uses and explains. Not surprisingly, the first picture book about her is titled Fancy Nancy.
